In 2017, we employed a Health Care Engagement and Community Development Lead to be based at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. We are now able to speak with patients of BHOC, introducing and referring them to Penny Brohn services and advice. This enables us to help far more people in and around Bristol, get the whole person care they need, from the moment they start receiving treatment.
We have been working in partnership with the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre since 2013. Through this partnership we have developed our Treatment Support Clinic and our Pre-Treatment Support Clinic which sees NHS Oncology staff working alongside our own team to offer an integrated approach to health and wellbeing. Our Treatment Support Clinic was recognised with a Runner-Up Prize by the College of Medicine 2013 Innovation in Self Care Awards.
