If you’ve attended one of our Introduction Days, Living Well courses or Treatment Support Clinics and you live within easy distance of our National Centre, we offer a number of regular groups.

Like much of what we do, the groups focus on managing stress, staying active and eating well.  They’re great for keeping you motivated, making new friends and maintaining your connection to Penny Brohn.

Tuesdays 2-3pm

mg_1226_thumb_webAlso known as a type of total-body walking, Nordic walking uses poles to exercise your upper body as well as your legs, and is excellent all-over exercise that’s both gentle and accessible.  This hour-long weekly group session is guided by an accredited Nordic Walking instructor, and explores the countryside around our National Centre.

Wednesdays – Beginners – 2-3.15pm | Improvers – 3.45-5pm

YogaYogathrive is yoga specially adapted for those affected by cancer. It combines physical postures with breathing techniques and meditation and is gentle, supportive, sociable and fun. The seven-week Beginners course is endlessly repeatable, and when you’re feeling up to stretching yourself further, the Improvers class lets you take your practice further.

Qi Gong (literally, ‘life energy cultivation’) is an ancient Chinese system of gentle exercises, movements, breathing and meditation techniques that support your energy and wellbeing.  Movement is flowing and slow, and at a level where everyone can join in and benefit, whatever your current levels of fitness or mobility.

Guided relaxation exploring a range of different relaxation techniques that can help you relax wherever you are. This small drop-in group can be responsive to your individual needs and requirements with space for questions and sharing.

Explore the wide variety of meditation techniques practised around the world, share your experience and get ideas on how to make meditation a regular part of your routine. Usually includes some gentle movement. This group is open to anyone with a connection to Penny Brohn.

Led by one of our experienced Nutritional Therapists, you will see and taste three different healthy recipes, with useful hints and information about food ingredients. This group usually runs 3 times a month – so make sure you check dates with Reception.

Meets every Wednesday during term time (6-7.15pm). The choir is made up of staff, clients and volunteers. Click here for more info.
