A Night at the Musicals: some enchanted evening

MUSICALS fans hopped on the Chattanooga Choo Choo and went Over the Rainbow at Some Enchanted Evening for us, but can you guess the type of event?

That’s correct – musical theatre! Our toe-tapping A Night at the Musicals in Portishead saw over 175 people take their seats for the audio treat to raise a fabulous £1,800.

Spectacular North Somerset soloist Rachael Cooper and Cheddar Male Choir amazed with two action-packed acts, and marvellous musician and poet Martin Kiszko compered on November 18.

“It was a magnificent musical extravaganza. Hits including Some Enchanted Evening, Rhythm of Life, You’ll Never Walk Alone and Love Never Dies really got people tapping, singing and smiling.

“The award-winning group and Rachael’s finale, Climb Every Mountain, was sublime and closed to rapturous applause.

“We thank every performer and audience member for helping make this so successful.” – Ian Riddell, Penny Brohn community fundraiser.

A raffle, with prizes including champagne tea for four in Bristol and a Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm family ticket added to the total.
