We are delighted to have joined forces with Maureen Lipman, one of Britain’s best loved actresses, to launch a BBC Radio 4 Charity Appeal, which ran between 22nd and 28th March 2015.
Raising vital funds for Penny Brohn UK
The comic actor, famous for her appearances on TV and on stage, helped raise funds for us so that we can continue to provide life-changing services for cancer sufferers and their supporters. Maureen was joined on air by Mike Harris, who attended one of our flagship Living Well courses in 2010. In the appeal, Mike paid testimony to how Penny Brohn has helped transform his life.
Mike was just 31 when he was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He struggled with the mental and emotional strain of coping with the disease. Penny Brohn helped him at a time when he needed it most and now free of cancer, continues to support Mike today. With care and unconditional support, Mike made positive changes to his lifestyle which has helped improve his long-term health and well-being.
Helping people live well with cancer
As a charity, we have led the way in supporting people, like Mike, with cancer. Our unique whole person approach to cancer offers support for the mind, body, spirit and emotions, to help people manage the practical and emotional impacts of cancer.
“As a long term supporter of Penny Brohn UK, I’ve seen the charity reach out beyond Bristol to deliver its vital services throughout the UK. The Living Well course helps people to heal themselves alongside their medical treatment.” Maureen Lipman
The BBC Radio 4 Appeal was broadcast between Sunday 22nd March and Thursday 26th March, but you can listen online at the BBC Radio 4 Charity Appeals website.
