Jessica Brohn, the daughter of Penny Brohn – co-founder of Penny Brohn UK, is organising a glamorous afternoon tea in aid of the charity.
The exclusive event at The Ned on Sunday 6 October will be attended by BAFTA award-winning actress Suranne Jones; patron of Penny Brohn UK. Guests will be treated to a glass of fizz or two, a delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and tea.
Voiceover artist, Jessica, is hosting the event to raise money to support the charity which her mother co-founded nearly 40 years ago. Penny Brohn set up the charity after being diagnosed with breast cancer and realising there was nothing available to help her focus on her ‘whole person’ – mind, body, spirit and emotions – during and after medical treatment.
Today, Penny Brohn UK is the leading UK charity to take an integrated and whole person approach to cancer support, recognising that people need more then medicine to live well with the disease. Exploring areas like diet, exercise, emotions, relationships and managing stress; the charity’s free courses, one-to-one therapies, and group sessions, work alongside standard medical treatment to achieve the best health and wellbeing by supporting the holistic needs – psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical – of people affected by cancer.
Jessica Brohn, said: “I’m delighted to host this event in such beautiful surroundings at The Ned, for Penny Brohn UK to raise money and awareness for our amazing integrative approach to support people to live well with cancer. I’m so proud of the work my mum started and that I can help it going forward. Afternoon Tea is a lovely, fun event – I can’t wait!”
