Volunteering in BristolWebmaster2020-11-02T11:16:28+00:00
Are you looking to volunteer in Bristol?
We have an amazing team of volunteers at Penny Brohn UK, and we’re always looking to add to it.
Our volunteers do everything, from cheering on marathon runners, speaking at events, to working for our admin team at our National Centre outside Bristol. No matter how much or how little time you can give, it all makes a difference and makes a big difference to the number of people we can help. You’ll be able to bring valuable experience and skills from whatever walk of life you’ve come from and you’ll meet new people to work with for a common cause – and we always try hard to find the right opportunity for you. You’ll be well supported by our Volunteer Manager and by the team you work with.
All volunteering opportunities in Bristol are currently on hold
As a charity we rely on the support of our wonderful volunteer team and depend on their skills, enthusiasm and commitment.
We have a wide variety of roles in many departments and hope that when the centre re-opens you will visit this section again and see how you can make a difference to those living with the impact of cancer.
In the meantime, you can read some of our volunteers’ stories here:
Christine Derrick grew up in Bristol, knowing about us as Bristol Cancer Help Centre. When she was diagnosed with cancer she wanted something new to do and spotted a poster asking for garden volunteers.
Marion started volunteering for Penny Brohn UK after her mum and brother-in-law both faced cancer. It became a cause close to her heart and now she is a meet and greeter, helping to welcome, settle in and have supper with clients when they first arrive at the centre.
Please get in touch! We have new opportunities all the time, and welcome anyone looking to volunteer their time or with a particular skill to offer.
From time to time we do have volunteering opportunities in Bristol that come up in our Garden team or at fundraising events. We also offer corporate volunteering opportunities to companies wanting to give their time to a worthy cause.
If you’re interested in a specific role or just want a chat, please call our Volunteer Manager, Sarah Gottesman on 01275 370 094, or email email@example.com to find out more.
Garden volunteers meet once a week to care for and cultivate the grounds of the National Centre. The gardens are a haven of tranquillity maintained throughout the year, come rain or shine and make our home a wonderful place to come and wander.

If you’re keen to help, but have a hectic schedule already and can only spare the odd few hours, there’s still lots you can do to help. Cheering on marathon runners, shaking a bucket at a collection, or helping direct guests at a fashion show or at a garden day only require you to turn up, help out, and then get back on with what you were doing. You’ll have helped us enormously for the few hours you can spare.
The National Centre is our base of operations and offers a warm welcome in an idyllic location.
Why not volunteer with us and find out how you and your colleagues can invest your time by getting stuck in with the gardening team or pick an indoor project at our National Centre? Contact our Corporate Volunteering team here.
