Working together, to help people live well with cancer

Cancer affects us all.  By 2020, almost 50% of people living in the UK will have received a diagnosis of cancer.  That means half of your employees and half of your customers will know what it means to be told, ‘you have cancer’.

However, the challenge many people face is not dying from the disease, but living well . While the NHS does incredible work in treating cancer, our expertise is vital in helping people understand what it is to live as well and as long as possible.

To keep our services free to the thousands of men and women who we help right now, we need to raise over £2.5 million every year. And as the number of people diagnosed with cancer grows, we have to be ready to meet this need. And we can’t do it alone.

The Penny Brohn UK National Centre is an inspiring and idyllic location from which to gain some perspective. It’s the perfect place to gather with colleagues to have some fun and to make a difference to the lives of those struggling to live well with cancer by giving something back.

Why not volunteer with us? Find out how you and your colleagues could be investing some of your time with the gardening team. Or perhaps something indoors at our National Centre? Your time and effort will mean we can reduce expenditure and invest even more in what we can offer those dealing with cancer.

“Our team were delighted to spend a day decorating one of the treatment rooms at Penny Brohn UK. The team at Penny Brohn could not have been more accommodating. We gathered at 9:30am and a member of the team was there to provide us with a warm welcome along with tea and coffee.

Work started not long after and we managed to get the first coat completed before lunch. We then sampled some of the delicious food, prepared in accordance with the Penny Brohn principles, in their restaurant.  After our break it was back to the task in hand and the second coat.

The day was rounded off with a very interesting tour of the centre, in which the team provided an explanation on the history and ethos of the charity and helped us understand how the freshly decorated treatment room is going to create a warmer environment for the people supported by the charity. All in all, with the way we were looked after and in the knowledge that we were making a small but positive contribution to this wonderful charity. The easiest way to support us

Payroll Giving is the most tax-efficient way to donate to charity, allowing you to help people living with cancer every time you’re paid.

For example, a £10-a-month donation would only cost you £8. This is because Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax, so we receive more money at no extra cost to you.

This provides us with a steady source of income. Knowing that we will receive your gift can make all the difference, as it means that we can plan ahead more effectively to help more people with our life-changing services.

What if I change jobs or retire?

If you change jobs, you can continue to give through your pay as long as your new employer is registered with a Payroll Giving Agency (PGA). Alternatively, or if you retire, you can set up a Direct Debit to continue the gift here. Your continued support will make a huge difference to someone affected by cancer.

Our team works closely with Charitable Trusts & Foundations to ensure the money you give is directed to vital projects that fulfill your aims and objectives. Whether you’d like your gift to be restricted to a specific project or region, or if you’d like it to have a wider impact, the choice is up to you.  We’ll keep you informed in the most appropriate way possible on the impact of your gift, so you can feel assured it has made a difference to the lives of those living with cancer.
