Also known as a type of total-body walking, Nordic walking uses poles to exercise your upper body as well as your legs, and is excellent all-over exercise that’s both gentle and accessible. This hour-long weekly group session is guided by an accredited Nordic Walking instructor, and explores the countryside around our National Centre. Qi Gong (literally, ‘life energy cultivation’) is an ancient Chinese system of gentle exercises, movements, breathing and meditation techniques that support your energy and wellbeing. Movement is flowing and slow, and at a level where everyone can join in and benefit, whatever your current levels of fitness or mobility. Come along to our 4-week course (Mondays, 2-4pm) and be supported on your journey to becoming more active. Held in a small group environment, activities can be tailored to you whatever your level of ability or experience. If you are recovering from cancer or are a supporter, come along and find out how to become more active and why it benefits you. The sessions will cover a range of topics to help you overcome the challenges you face and to build your confidence. As well as talks and a group discussion, we will be trying a variety of activities to see what suits you. In partnership with The Bodyworks Project we’re offering gym based physical activity advice and programmes to support you at all stages of the cancer care pathway.
Small group classes: Monday at 12.00pm or Friday at 11.30am
This physical activity group includes circuit style exercise classes for anybody living with cancer and their supporters. Focussing on different aspects of fitness and always finishing with a good stretch and some moments of relaxation. A great way to enjoy meeting new people going through a similar journey.
