£49
Snowdon at night

A Welsh mountain trek with a twist!

About the Snowdon Challenge:

This challenge is perfect if you’ve got limited time available! You’ll follow the Llanberis track to climb Wales’ highest mountain by night, arriving before sunrise before making your way back down for a well deserved breakfast. On the trek you will be provided with a Global Adventure Challenges Leader, professional local guides, drinking water and breakfast. Check out the itinerary for more details of what is and is not included.

When:

11-12 June 2022

Our favourite highlight:

It has to be standing at the summit and watching the sunrise across the mountain range.

What do I need to know?

We are delighted to once again be working alongside Global Adventure Challenges who have over twenty years experience in organising such trips, they have helped thousands of people reach their goals and life-long ambitions. Every Expedition Leader is highly experienced and well trained to provide everyone with the most enjoyable trip possible.

Global Adventure Challenges know there are a lot of things to consider before you get back out into the world so they’ve put together a new Travel with Confidence policy, outlining the steps they and their suppliers are taking to make sure that you are safe. Just click on this link to explore their policy, and if you need to know more then don’t hesitate to get in touch.

How fit do you need to be? This trek is graded as ‘Challenging’ which means that it is designed to push your boundaries but it should be achievable by anyone as long as you train beforehand.

Costs:

You will be required to pay a non refundable registration fee of £49 at the time of booking. After this there are two payment options:

Minimum Sponsorship (Option A): With this option you fundraise a minimum amount of £290 sponsorship for Penny Brohn UK out of which we pay your challenge costs (£145).

Self Funded (Option B): You personally cover the full costs of the challenge out of your own pocket which is £145 and then fundraise as much as you can; all of which comes to the charity.

Why should you do it?

We’re all looking for adventure at the moment and this is certainly one way to get back out there when it’s safe to do so. But also, every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. With over 50% of us living with cancer for 10 years or more, the challenge now is living well with an uncertain future, particularly during these uncertain times.  Did you know that

  • 1 in 3 people with cancer have depression or anxiety
  • 9 out of 10 people with cancer have emotional, social, or physical unmet needs at diagnosis

You can make a lasting difference to these people. While the NHS does incredible work in treating cancer, our expertise is vital in helping people understand what it is to live as well and as long as possible. In taking on this trekking challenge you’ll be fundraising to allow us to support cancer patients to regain control of their lives, to remember that they are more than their cancer diagnosis.

ABSOLUTELY! This trek is suitable for all ages and abilities  with the correct training. The minimum age for this trek is 18 years old (14-17 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian). The one thing everyone will have in common is a great sense of adventure and a desire to help a charity. Whether you are taking part as an individual or as a team with friends, team spirit will be flying high on the challenge.

This trek has been graded as 'Challenge' (1) on Global Adventure Challenge's grade scale, and is designed to push your boundaries but be achievable as long as you train correctly beforehand. Remember, you are trekking to the summit of the highest mountain in Wales, so the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy this challenge. A full training guide will be included in your welcome pack.

You will be provided with a full kit list in your welcome pack when your register. Usual items of kit are required such as broken in walking boots, walking poles and a head torch – other than this you do not need any specialist kit.

All you will need to carry with you is a small day pack whilst trekking to carry items such as your phone, camera, sun-screen, energy snacks etc.

• Snacks along the route and breakfast on completing the challenge
• Qualified Global Adventure Challenges leaders
• Vehicle for back up and support

• Travel insurance • Personal trekking kit (trekking boots, poles, etc.)

Yes. Minimum sponsorships are set to ensure that your challenge does not cost the charity any money and enables us to fund our vital work. We will be on hand to help with fundraising ideas and tips. If you have any concerns about reaching the minimum amount set, feel free to call Emma or Helen on 01275 370073.
