Based on the acclaimed Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression course and led by qualified, experienced teachers; the course will help participants to respond wisely and compassionately to their experience, moving towards improved quality of life and greater wellbeing.
Over 8 weekly 2-hour sessions, starting the 18th of February, you will learn a range of meditation, gentle movement and daily living exercises that will guide you step by step towards:
- Being more fully aware in the present moment, rather than being caught up in worries about the future or regrets about the past
- Recognising your own unique pattern of stress or anxiety
- Developing ways of “being with” difficult or challenging internal experiences with greater calm, kindness and equanimity, rather than avoiding or denying these experiences in a way that increases suffering
- Developing coping skills to manage the challenges that you may face following a cancer diagnosis
These sessions are open to anyone that has been diagnosed with, and is living with cancer. We would not recommend the course at this time if you are currently experiencing acute, overwhelming distress.
In order to ensure that the course is right for you, you will be invited to attend a face-to-face or telephone assessment with the course tutor prior to being accepted on the course. This is also when the venue of the course will be confirmed.
If you are interested in attending please get in touch with NCIM to find out more or to register and arrange a meeting with the course tutor: call us on 0117 370 1875 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
