Evidence-based information on complementary therapies

>>Evidence-based information on complementary therapies

Whether it’s managing the side-effects of treatment, building resilience in order to respond better to treatment, or dealing with the emotional and psychological impact of cancer, complementary therapies are effective in meeting the needs of people living with and beyond cancer. At Penny Brohn UK we provide acupuncture, healing, massage, reflexology and shiatsu sessions.

With our evidence-based information sheets we’ve done all the research so you don’t have to. Each sheet is split into sections to help you get the information you need to help you self-manage your cancer experience. The therapies we offer work alongside conventional treatment so you can achieve the best health and wellbeing, but also gain a sense of control of your treatment and experience. In a routine evaluation (six weeks post course) of our flagship Living Well course 90% of attendees said what they had learnt during their time at Penny Brohn UK helped improve their use of self-help techniques.

12 months after attending the course we checked in again with attendees and how the Living Well course helped them self-manage:

36% said: “Made me more knowledgeable about how to improve my health.”

26% said: “Gave me the skills to make lifestyle changes.”

23% said: “Made me more confident to make lifestyle changes.”

Complementary therapies play an important role in relieving stress, alleviating side-effects and generally help you live well with cancer.
